Warhammer 40.000

Newly promoted Adeptus Arbites officer Shira Calpurnia tackles assassinations, psykers, family legacies and more in the classic Warhammer 40,000 trilogy.

These three novels give an unparalleled look at a unique and fascinating facet of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and are rightly considered among the greatest of all tales from the 41st Millennium.

The Adeptus Arbites are responsible for enforcing law and order across the vast reaches of the human Imperium. Newly promoted officer Shira Calpurnia is assigned to the fortresssystem of Hydraphur, home of the vast Imperial warfleets that dock, rearm and repair in an endless cycle of conflict. But Shira soon finds herself in the thick of the action as her investigations embroil her in the corruption behind multiple assassination attempts, the vicious greed over an ancient charter, and encounters with psykers and murderers. The Shira Calpurnia novels present a unique and original view of the Warhammer 40,00 universe from the pen of acclaimed science fiction author Matt Farrer.

Female enforcer, Shira Calpurnia maintains law and order in the grim world of the 41st millenium. It contains the books Crossfire, Legacy, Blind and two short stories.

Hydraphur. The headquarters of the Imperial Battlefleet Pacificus. Home to great squadrons of majestic warships, rearming and repairing in an endless cycle of war. Every world is a fortress, every asteroid a gun-post, every space station a bunker.
Hydraphur. A snakes' nest of politics where powerful trade syndicates shelter under the wings of the Naval armadas, rival arms of the Imperial Adeptus jockey for power and influence, dynasties of Naval officers rule their fleets like feudal fiefs and jealous planetary aristocrats fiercely guard their traditions of privilege.
Hydraphur. The new home of Adeptus Arbites commander Shira Calpurnia, freshly promoted into the high echelons of these stern enforcers of Imperial law, for whom the task of keeping order during a grand religious festival suddenly turns into a deadly chess game against a cunning, faceless opponent. But to unravel the intrigues behind the assassinations and sabotage, Calpurnia first has simply to keep herself alive...

The legendary Rogue Trader Charters: Imperial warrants of tremendous antiquity which can bring their bearers wealth and power barely imaginable. Now that Rogue Trader Hoyyon Phrax is dead, his Charter is being brought to the great fortress-system of Hydraphur to be ceremonially bequeathed to his son, and already the vultures are circling. Shira Calpurnia does not want the Charter. She can't help wishing she had never heard of the Charter. But she has been appointed to ensure that the will and testament of Hoyyon Phrax is carried out according to Imperial law. And that means that when the rival heirs decide that due process be damned and go all-out for their prize, it's Calpurnia and her Arbites who must don their armour, take up their weapons and stand in the way...

The Master of the Blind Tower - a vast fortification housing countless telepaths - has been murdered. Arbites officer Shira Calpurnia is trying to dig the killer out of Tower's shadowy and twisting halls. Dealing with the inevitable hostility, deception and intrigue is bad enough, but dealing with a station full of half-crazed seers whose minds stare into the Warp every day doesn't help, and doing it under the vindictive eye of an insecure Arbiter `minder` makes things tenser still. What makes it worst of all is that Calpurnia has to confront the one kind of weakness and failure she may not be able to deal with: her own.
